Finally made it to Pisa!! Originally I had purchased a self walking wine tasting tour. What better thing to do in Tuscany. But the company I bought it through wasn’t even open. Such a disappointment. Def need to get my money back. So instead, the hostel I was staying at provided a map that had all the popular monuments on it. Soo just used that to see everything. There were sooo many churches. And they were all super cool! The one I enjoyed seeing the most was the San Francesco. It was unreal. The stain glass windows. Popes memorial. Nativity scene. Gorgeous paintings. It was all so amazing. But the most unique part was that many locals were in the church praying. It was silent. A complete holy sanctuary. It made it all the more surreal.

San Michelle in Borgo.

San Paolo all’Orto.

Pope’s memorial.

Santa Maria Della Spina.
Etc. There were still so many other churches I saw. Walking around the city was different. Different than Rome which I didn’t expect because they aren’t very far in distance. But similarly they have a longgggg river in the center of town. Pisa’s smelled horrible and looked like a big sewage line. Not the best sight to see. And on top of that Italy is having a lot of rain and flooding problems. The river had been rising by the hour. Trees were even halfway under water. I’d never seen anything like it before. I guess instead of snowstorms this is the type of problem that Italy experiences. There was even concern that the river would rise so much that no transportation would be working. A serious possibility that I’d be stranded in Pisa… Quite unnerving.

Near the end of the day I went to the infamous Leaning Tower of Pisa!! It is so awesome! Crazy how it still stands when it is actually leaning so much. I don’t think pictures do it justice. And it is right next to the Camposanto Monumentale. The whole area was picturesque. Extremely green grass. Pure white buildings. Moltobello bello.

And of course I got gelato after. It was the best gelato to date. Crema and cookies. Haven’t found that kind in Rome yet but I’m so on the lookout now.

Ended the night with a semi decent dinner and a beautiful sunset on the raunchy river.

Today I’m on my way to Siena. Wish me a safe trip with all this crazy flooding nonsense.

Caio.
